2.4 Maintenance

2.4.1 Cleaning the Thermal Print Head

To clean the 8500’s print head, complete the following steps:

12 Press ENTER. Press the Down Arrow key until the following message appears:

MAINTENANCE

PRINT HEAD CALIBRATE

13 Press ENTER. Press the Up Arrow twice to get the following message:

CALIBRATE PRINT HEAD

(Exit=no) (Enter=yes)

14 Press ENTER. The following message will flash:

FUNCTION COMPLETED

15 Press EXIT three times.

16 Press ENTER.

17 Press EXIT.

18 Press ONLINE to switch the printer online.

Step Action

1 Power off the unit. Unplug the unit’s AC power cable from the power source.

2 Open the printer’s cover by pressing the cover release button.

3 After the cover pops open, lift the cover to the full upright position.

4 Press the print head release latch downward to open the print head assembly.
